Mine didnt hang out at the bottom, for what its worth. They
spawned repeatedly on the tank walls, about 3/4 of the way to the
surface. The subdominant male sometimes took refuge at the bottom
of the tank during spawning, but they werent particularly
aggressive with him. In fact they werent aggressive with the M.
ansorgii I housed them with either, so they might be fine
alongside larger cory species. I wouldnt house them with smaller
species just because they are large and pushy.
I kept mine at room temp in the 70s most of the year. Given the choice, Id have kept a trio, but the group available was a reverse trio (thanks for them too, Bev! They were among my favorites) which worked out fine for a while. It probably would have worked long-term too, but a larger tank would have been helpful.
Broken sight lines are always helpful with mid-sized moderately aggressive fish, so I would structure the tank with a few territ...
