Light Blue Solider Crabs or more commonly known as Soldier crabs, are a unique group of crabs that live on tidal mudflats in sandy estuaries and mangroves.They appear in massive groups that seem to emerge from nowhere all at the same time.

It is thought that the spontaneous arrival of Soldier Crabs is triggered by the falling tide. If disturbed, they burrow into the sand with a corkscrew motion, disappearing as quickly as they arrived.

Soldier Crabs are found in Western Australia, across the northern end of Australia and all the way down the east coast to Victoria in the south. They are also found in the western Indian Ocean to French Polynesia.
