L380 is almost an enigma, it was a late discovery in the heyday of l-numbers and only very few specimens have ever been collected and exported. It comes from Rio Gurupi, a coastal river in the eastern part of Brazil not far from Belém. Its not allowed for export from Brazil. It belongs to the same Cactus Pleco group as the fairly similar L185 from Rio Xingu, and P.spinosus, but L380 has a more wormlined pattern of black stripes against a lighter body.
